✨ Hello Kitty | 50th Anniversary ✨
Kitty White was born on November 1, 1974, when she first appeared on a vinyl coin purse that quickly helped her became a national sensation in Japan.
By the end of the 1980s, Kitty White was well on her way to becoming the international face of kawaii, the Japanese concept of cuteness that has since become a global trend.
Pop stars from Lady Gaga to Bruno Mars have embraced this movement, as well as Kitty herself.
In 2009, the stylish and eccentric Lady Gaga was captured in a London photo shoot for Hello Kitty’s 35th anniversary. The images were shot by celebrity photographer Markus Klinko, who has worked with the likes of Beyoncé, David Bowie, Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears, Mary J. Blige, Mariah Carey, Kanye West, Anne Hathaway, Kate Winslet, Will Smith, Eva Mendes, Kim Kardashian, Naomi Campbell and Iman. Just to name a few!
“To have the very sexy, the very ‘R rated’ Lady Gaga be the spokesperson for the very ‘G rated’ Hello Kitty is bizarre, it’s ridiculous. It’s the perfect shoot” ~Markus Klinko
The images from Lady Gaga’s ‘Hello Kitty’ photoshoot were featured in the special, limited edition reissue of Gaga’s hit album, The Fame Monster.
